Big George Eastman is severely injured while being chased by a priest. Guts in hand (literally!), he shows up at a house and then is taken to the hospital. While at the hospital, the surgical staff discover his blood clots quickly and that he heals at a much faster rate than a normal person. Eastman escapes, the priest pursues, and then we take a detour through a direct copy of Halloween before the movie ends.Absurd is often billed as a sequel to Anthropophagus but Eastman is the only real connection. The story is crazy, and there's lots of boring padding as we watch characters watch TV. However, gore scenes are what we're looking for here, and there are a few nice set pieces on display including a drill through a head and a bandsaw through a head. Apart from these few gore scenes, Absurd is pretty much a dull mess.

Back in the 1984 Feb i watched this film as a 9 year old. In those time it was perhaps the most violent of all features. I didn't catched up from the start but i managed to see in the end , than next day when i returned from school this movie was running again on VCR. The whole family was watching it. The horror which i felt was started at the moment when the nurse in hospital is caught when the deranged blood thirsty killer is conscious again and than he grabs her , than starts to insert a running drill machine in her head which crosses her brain completely from both sides. I had a very bad feeling because my nerves are not very capable of tolerating such scenes, i could had vomited as stream of blood was oozing out like water from tap. When the man like beast escapes and than he in one moment he enters and sees a butcher inside a meat shop than he lifts a chopper to kill him. I ran away because i couldn't handle any more of it ,i layed down in a quilt and shut off my ears not to hear the screams. I even missed the oven death but than i saw the final minutes in which a crippled girl 1st destroys his eyes and than cuts his head off with a big Axe to save herself and other man .Here this beast man was so strong that she had to hit him several times the Axe and her cloths were badly stained by his blood in the process. Thanks to youtube i managed to see some few momewnts of the film again after 25 years. From there i know that Russo sangue a.k.a Absurd is sequel to anthropophagus(Italian movie) which is even more brutal and grue some than this, there in this very same person was acting as Grimm reaper and was not only killing but eating its victims all due to a very mysterious disease at an island. I both like and dislike this film. Thanks Us.IMDb i knew more about the time of its release and the actor George Eastman as Grimm reaper. One should only watch it if he/she is not a faint hearted and have weak nervous system because you can feel too much awkward , in my opinion such movies should not be made in 1st place and if done than it must be for adults only. Regardless of good direction acting story or music such films contain too much gore violence present example is saw trilogy. Watch it but carefully, don't let young people see it

I still don't know how this is a sequel to Antropophagus... I love the first film and really enjoyed Absurd but it has nothing to with Antropophagus. George Eastman is the only thing they have in common. The gore was good the story was alright and the acting was um... OK I guess... but nothing great here. The story is a bit unique in it's telling but it left a lot to be desired..... the violence was OK and it had some great killing scenes.. IE the nurse and the guy who bite it from the band saw... truly awesome deaths.I truly enjoyed the death of the babysitter... and the the film had a great ending but I don't think it was better then Antropophagus... just as enjoyable but not as good.

A monster (read - Homicidal Man) with regenerative powers that are 'absurd' - IE stab him and it won't stop him, you have to completely mash his brain to do that - goes on a minor rampage in a small American town. This film almost sent me to sleep at times. I don't believe that Joe D'Amato was much of a director, just prolific. When he does make films I like (EG - Buio Omega, Anthrophagus), I'm tempted to thank mostly his persistence with exploitatively gory subject matter. For every half-decent film he's made, he's also made two more that sucked, and that isn't a good batting average. There's not even much consensus on his good films. I'm a fan of Anthropophagus, but I know for a fact that it bores a lot of people, and I can understand why. In any case, Absurd is just too obnoxiously stupid and uneven to earn much of a place in my heart, no matter how blitzkriegy its violence.D'Amato seems to have had no overview of his films before piecing them together. In Absurd, soporific longeurs are broken up by overblown murder set-pieces. The killings are undoubtedly nasty (bandsaw through the head, axe in the head, head in the oven, etc.) but the director offers so little explanation as to why/how these killings occur that the film doesn't feel horrifying, just ridiculous. George Eastman is competently creepy as the monster, but we know almost nothing about his character, and he goes out of his way to kill each victim in the gruesomest way he can, no matter how impractical that course of action might be. My main reaction to this approach was laughter. Every now and then I caught myself liking the film's brutality, but so often it's just boring, stupid or silly, limply structured - annoying. The film may end up being memorable for not very good reasons, but the reality is that it's pretty crap.
