A midnight showing of an early 1970s horror movie turns to chaos when the Killer from the movie comes out of the film to attack those in the theater. The 70s film sure does not look like a film from the 70s -- way too clean, for example. Adding a VW bus does not make it an old movie. (I suppose I could dismiss this as a joke.) I appreciated seeing Brea Grant (playing Rachael), a friend of Killer Reviews. She may not be a major character, but still nice to see her in horror films just the same. Rebekah Brandes (playing Bridget), I am not familiar with -- but she could make a fortune as a Taylor Swift lookalike.Horror Society's Bryan Schuessler wrote that the film was "one of the best slasher films that I have seen in awhile" and a "smashing success". Fangoria's Michael Gingold gave it three out of four skulls and says the film "cleverly juxtaposes the reel and real terrors, and occasionally subverts expectations." My praise may not be as thick as theirs, but I have to admit that I did not want to see this movie, but ended up finding it pretty decent.Low budget? Yes. Greatest movie ever? Hardly. Better than the average independent film? If you like slashers, certainly.

When you're in the mood for a great horror film with lots of exotic kills, this movie is great for you. Though the movie starts out as a typical teen slasher flick, it stays true to some other class horror flicks of good quality. Midnight Movie pays homage to to Hitchcock in its movie with in the movie shot in black and white. The cast is made of relatively new people on the Hollywood scene, but were good enough to have a great on screen chemistry. Rebekah Brandes, the lead in Midnight Movie Killer cut is a standout amongst the cast. I look to see her career blossom soon as she gets more and more mainstream. the editing of this movie is also superb, the mixing of soundtrack and the film was dine very good for a horror film, they made sure not to give away every scary moment with for-shadowed music. all in all, if your in the mood for a slasher film with a new take on the genera Midnight Movie Killer cut is great for you.

This movie caught me off guard. Before watching the movie, I thought it'd be like any other horror movie, but to my surprise it involved a lot of interesting characters who really challenge your initial impression.(my favorite being the tough biker dude) Most notably was the end, which is unusual for horror movies and absolutely made this one stand out. This film does many things that engage the conversations created by previous horror films, there's even a movie within the movie, some campiness is involved which is always fun for movie buffs, and totally sets it up for the gory slashy goodness that Midnight Movie delivers.

Soooo I had the chance to see this movie a couple days ago, and im not gonna lie, I wasn't very excited at first. As me and my friends started the movie I got hooked from the beginning to the very end!! So many bloody awesome scenes that at some points I had to close my eyes! Unlike any of the hundreds of horror movies the plot was weirdly good and also the ending had a very unexpected twist! As the killer goes in and out of the movie within the movie in a bizarre almost "Inception-esk" way, my excitement intensified just as the blood splashing did! This movie remind of the times where I was scared to go to bed because I was too afraid of Freddy, or afraid of walking on corn fields after watching "TX Chain Saw Massacre". "Midnight Movie" is adding another point on my "to be afraid of" list! Great movie for a date, or just to have fun with some friends; but specially, a "must have" for DVD collections!
