This is a decent entry in the Dirty Harry series, this time not just starring Clint Eastwood, but also directed by him. San Francisco Homicide Detective "Dirty" Harry Callahan gets in trouble with his superiors (as usual) and is sent on forced vacation to the small seaside community of San Paulo. In between dodging various attempted Mob hits on his life, Harry stumbles into a series of killings being committed by a mysterious artist (Sondra Locke). This is the film that generated the ubiquitous 80's catchphrase ,"Go ahead. Make my day" which Harry utters while foiling a robbery he just happens to walk into. This is why I love Dirty Harry - NOBODY is that tough and lives to tell about it! President Ronald Reagan's use of it during a press conference was one of the most replayed moments of his presidency. Like most, if not all, of the Dirty Harry sequels, this started out as an unrelated screenplay that was then rewritten to become part of the series. This time around it's more obvious than in the other films. Eastwood is fine in his role, but by this time he could play this in his sleep.Locke makes for a convincing killer, too, and this is one of the better roles she had in then-boyfriend Clint's films. Plus, this is a killer whose mission I can get behind! In some ways she is like Harry, if the establishment won't take out the trash, she will! I will tell you no more about her motives. Also with Pat Hingle as the small town police chief, Bradford Dillman, Albert Popwell (who's in the first 4 Dirty Harry films, each time as a different character), Paul Drake as a particularly nasty pencil-mustached slime ball, Mara Corday, Carmen Argenziano, Michael V. Gazzo as a mob boss, and a young Camryn Manheim looking scared in an elevator.

This movie is about a woman named Jennifer Spencer who was raped along with her sister. Her sister now suffers brain damage, and now Jennifer exacts revenge on the abusers. With the movie constantly going back and forth from flashbacks, to Jennifer and to Dirty Harry, it takes you out of what is currently happening and this cycle continues for the entire movie, with mostly flashbacks as the movie treats the viewers as if they can't remember things from a few minutes in the past. This story that could have ended in less than two hours is dragged on for nearly an hour and fifty-three minutes, with a mediocre corrupted cop ending. This ending completely underminds recent Dirty Harry ideologies and movies, he doesn't like the system, but he vaguely follows it.

Part 4 in the Dirty Harry franchise and for me it was better than part 3 The Enforcer but it didn't satisfy me on all ways. The first part is the best part because there we do have the macho Callahan killing everybody who is in his way. Naturally it doesn't match up the way the police sees it so vacation is on his way but there's a killer out there. So the second part of the flick Callahan turns into a smoother person who is even attracted to a lady not knowing who she really is. And it is that part that takes too long. I can't say who she really is but some scene's are too long. And it shows because it clocks in at almost 2 hours, a bit too long. if you can sit through the revenge part and wait until the final it's were Callahan becomes dirty again. Better than part 3 but should have been a 90 minutes flick.Gore 0/5 Nudity 0,5/5 Effects 1/5 Story 3/5 Comedy 0/5

This is the third sequel to Dirty Harry, where Inspector Harry Callahan (Clint Eastwood) has been sent to small town outside San Francisco to investigate crimes committed by a serial killer, who is gunning down the scumbags that sexually assaulted her and her sister years ago.As with the previous films, the mystery begins immediately when a mysterious woman guns down a man in his car in a secluded area. It then leads to a string of crimes where Callahan is lead to investigate. And, in the middle of it all, there again are these random unrelated crimes foiled by Callahan, which showcases his strength and witty, acidic attitude and kept the film exciting; among my favorites is the coffee shop scene, where I think Callahan displays some of his funniest yet most action-packed gun totting moves. His unorthodox ways of dealing these criminals continue to be the highlight of the series. The plot elements are suspenseful and Clint Eastwood as director kept the movie's pace interesting and attention grabbing. I like the fact that the movie has more action and thrill-oriented scenes than the previous film and as more satisfying moments - you get to see more of these criminals get a taste of their own medicine. Bradford Dillman plays Callahan's superior again, but for some reason his name is Captain Briggs instead of Captain McKay as in the previous film. Either way, he's the same annoying and arrogant lieutenant who throws the rulebook at Callahan once again. But, thankfully, he's not in the film much at all.Clint Eastwood stayed true to his form as Callahan and had some good chemistry with Sandra Locke - great acting all together. Overall, this is one of the best Dirty Marry movies.Grade A
